Maxol has been at the heart of Irish communities for over 100 years and supporting local has always been a priority for the family-owned forecourt retailer. In 2021 Maxol joined the Champion Green movement to demonstrate the company’s backing for SMEs and for the national campaign to support local businesses and communities.

In 2022 the company is launching its inaugural local producers’ initiative Local Roots with Maxol , a programme that gives local businesses the opportunity to have their product on display in Maxol convenience stores across the Republic of Ireland.

Interested participants are invited to complete a short entry form from which a shortlist will be drawn and reviewed by an expert judging panel from the convenience retail and food industries. Four winners will be chosen , and each finalist will be given an opportunity to distribute their product into Maxol stores for 6 months at a time in 2023 with high visibility and the potential to reach a national audience 20and hundreds of thousands of Maxol’s customers.

The winners will receive marketing support to the value of €10,000 each and this includes point of sale, PR, promotion on social media and a national online and print publication.

  • X finalists will be reviewed by a judging panel and 4 winners will be announced.

Programme Criteria:

  • Ideal programme entrants include food and beverage suppliers
  • The entrant is a legal resident of Ireland
  • The entrant must own at least X% of their business and operate their business in Ireland
  • The entrant’s business must have been operating for a minimum of one year
  • The entrant’s products must be suitable for retail
  • Entrants must be able to provide a food registration form with business number.
  • Finalists will be required to FSAI credentials and be prepared to be audited by a Maxol food safety officer.
  • The programme is open to sole traders, local makers and small businesses based in the Island of Ireland, over the age of 18.
  • All food products must be produced in Ireland.
  • Entrants will be judged on quality of ingredients.
  • Winners will only be listed in Maxol stores in ROI listed here.
  • Entrants will be judged on their sustainability efforts.
  • Entrants must have the ability to deliver to all Maxol stores listed here.
  • Entrants can produce products from the following food categories:
    • Ambient
    • Confectionary
    • Deli
    • Hot
    • Fresh
    • Entrants can produce products from the following drinks categories:
      • Soft drinks
      • Juices and smoothies
      • Teas
      • Health and fitness drinks
      • Milk based drinks
      • Alcohol?
