VOTING BEGINS TO DECIDE THE MAXOL CAR OF THE YEAR 2003
The search for Northern Ireland’s best car got underway today with the launch of the Northern Ireland Car of the Year Awards by Maxol and the Ulster Motoring Writers Association (UMWA).
The award scheme recognises and rewards excellence in vehicle design, performance, safety standards and value for money across the following categories; small car, multi-purpose vehicle, family car, diesel car, sporting car and executive ranges.
Over XX cars have been entered into the 2003 competition, which is judged by members of the UMWA..
Robin Young, Chairman of UMWA, said: “Maxol’s relationship with UMWA has enabled us to strengthen the appeal of the Car of the Year Awards in general with the result that there has been a marked increase in the number of vehicles which have been entered into the competition. We have tested some strong contenders across all of the competition categories and I for one am looking forward to discovering which car comes out on top.”
Brian Donaldson, General Manager – Marketing and Retail of the Maxol Group, said: “This is the fifth year that Maxol has supported the Car of the Year Awards, a competition which tests and then announces the best of vehicles that car manufacturers have to offer. The awards not only seek to reward those manufacturers which show excellence but to provide consumers with non-biased information which can help them make an informed decision when purchasing a new vehicle.”
The award ceremony which is being held in early April will showcase the best vehicles launched during the year 2002.
