Liam, Joan and Carol Brennan, who run Brennan’s Maxol Service Station in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, were the big winners at the recent Maxol Retail Awards 2008. The Brennans took home the top honour on the night, winning the coveted prize of ‘Top All Ireland Retailer for 2008’. The Brennan’s are no strangers to success in Maxol’s Awards and in 2007 they also won the ‘All Ireland Staff Team’ Award. Their success wasn’t limited to just one award though as they also won three further awards: 'Top Customer Care Retailer', 'All Ireland Staff Team of the Year for a Dealer-owned' and were also in a remarkable seven-way tie for first place in the 'Top Toilet' category.

Commenting on the Brennan's massive success yet again at the Awards Mark Walsh, Retail Area Manager, Maxol, said:
Congratulations to Liam, Joan and Carol and their team for winning the ‘Top All Ireland Retailers of the Year Award’ for 2008. This is a really great achievement and one of which they can be extremely proud. The scheme was originally developed in 1992 to ensure that customers can expect the best from Maxol, including quality retailing and premium customer care and that the best levels of service and amenities are maintained on Maxol forecourts. This award along with their other three wins acknowledges their commitment to achieving this goal.” The team at Brennan’s performed particularly well throughout the year, achieving top results in both inspections and mystery motorist visits. The Brennan family has been running the business since the 1980s and their work is recognised by these awards.

The Lord Mayor of Newbridge, Michael Deeley, was himself in attendance at Brennan’s Service Station to personally congratulate the Brennan family and the rest of the team on their fine efforts in winning the four awards.
It is encouraging to see a local business such as Brennan’s performing so well in its field and showing such enthusiasm and professionalism, especially given the current economic climate that we find ourselves in. Congratulations to the whole team involved, they fully deserve their recognition. The accolade of ‘Top All Ireland Retailer’, which forms part of Maxol’s annual Retail Business Awards scheme, promotes and recognises excellence in retail standards and customer care throughout its entire network of service stations.

Under the judging criteria all competing service stations are assessed for forecourt, car wash, shop and toilet standards. The various award winners for 2008 were announced at the Annual Retailer Conference in Athlone, Co. Westmeath.
