Maxol Clonakilty Wins Forecourt of the Year Award at Annual Shelflife Awards
Maxol’s Service Station in Clonakilty was the winner of the Forecourt of the Year Award at the prestigious Shelflife Industry Awards in Dublin last night. This state-of-the-art service station was opened in March this year by Maxol, Ireland’s leading family owned oil company, following an investment of €2.25m.
It is the 8th site to be developed in this new corporate style by Maxol and the company has planning permission for a further six sites to be completed within the next 18 months.
Since opening, the Clonakilty Maxol service station has heralded a new experience in Irish motoring convenience and comfort with its expansive forecourt, 25 car parking spaces and a dual bay carwash centre. The site boasts a 290-square-metre MACE store within a modern glass fronted and curved roof building and offers an extensive range of convenience goods. It provides a wide choice of hot and cold food together with seating for 40 customers. In addition to the self-service Bewley’s Fair Trade Coffee station, a full barista coffee offering is available.
Speaking about the award, Tom Noonan, CEO Maxol said “We would like to congratulate our Licensee Shane Cantillon and his staff on their award winning customer service and the professional manner in which they operate the service station. This, coupled with our corporate vision for excellence in forecourt convenience has proven to be a winning formula. Maxol has always supported the idea that local businesses are best run by local people and this has certainly been borne out in the case of Maxol Clonakilty.”
Speaking about the win, Maxol Clonakilty Licensee, Shane Cantillon said “We are thrilled with this award and what it says about our customer offering, services and of course our team of staff who work hard to ensure that high standards are maintained on an ongoing basis. Situated where we are, we attract many tourists who are a very important part of our customer base. However, we believe that our local business – people who live in the area - are most important to us. We have become a focal part of the community, from people meeting up to have a break following a GAA training session to parents gathering for a coffee following the daily school run. Their presence and their feedback are vital to our ability to offer an award winning service. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them for their support.
The Shelflife C-Store Awards, now running for 10 years, were set up to recognise retailers and retail outlets that set the highest standards in the retail industry. “Irish c-store retailers have invested millions of euros building and running fantastic stores in every corner of Ireland. Now, more than ever, these people deserve to be supported by their local communities” said Shelflife Editor Fionnuala Carolan.
