Maxol Recognises the Simon Communities As Official Charity Partner of the Year.

03 March 2011: Maxol and the Simon Communities in Ireland are proud to announce details of a new partnership which recognises the Simon Community as the official Maxol Charity Partner for 2011. This partnership will see the inclusion of Simon Community collection boxes in over two hundred Maxol service stations throughout the island of Ireland.

Every cent collected in local Maxol stations will be donated to the Simon Community operating in that same region, supporting them to respond and meet the needs of people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in their area.

In addition to collection boxes, plans are underway to launch the ‘Maxol Carwash for Simon Promotion’ which will take place during the summer months and will see Simon Communities receive a percentage of revenue from selected carwash facilities in the Maxol network over the course of the campaign.

Speaking about the new agreement, Tom Noonan, CEO Maxol said “Maxol is very proud to be associated with the Simon Community as we have been long aware of the magnificent work carried out by Simon the length and breadth of the island of Ireland. We anticipate that our customers will respond generously to the range of charitable activities which we will partner with the Simon Communities on throughout the Maxol network, North and South, during 2011.

We have estimated that if even a small percentage of our customers were to make a modest donation each month at their local Maxol service station, it would not take long before the 1st €100,000 would be raised to support the Simon Communities fundraising efforts.”

Speaking on behalf of the Simon Community, Dr Mary Lee Rhodes, Chief Executive Officer, Simon Communities said “We are delighted to be working with Maxol on this partnership and we look forward to an exciting year ahead. In the current climate we are seeing the impact on those who are most vulnerable in our society; people who are homeless, people who are at risk of homelessness and people with many related needs. Ultimately our work is about believing in people, believing in the people who turn to the eight local Simon communities around the country every day, believing in the thousands of volunteers and Simon supporters, and believing that with the appropriate housing, care and support people can and do leave homelessness behind them for good. It is a partnership such as this with Maxol which continues to make our work possible.”
