MAXOL SUPPORTS FEEDING IRELAND'S FUTURE

The forecourt convenience retailer Maxol took part in a nationwide initiative by the food and grocery industry offering skills training to help tackle youth unemployment in Dublin City Centre.

On Tuesday 4th March, as part of the National Campaign launched to help young unemployed people get into work, Maxol invited 12 young people from Dublin City Centre to their Head Office in the IFSC to take part in a Skills for Work day which provided expert advice on job seeking skills, covering CV design, interview preparation and the use of social media in finding a job.

Feeding Ireland's Future is led by ECR Ireland and in partnership with the Department of Social Protection, is the first initiative of its kind, giving young people access to farms, factories, retail forecourts and stores, first-hand knowledge of the skills needed for a career in the food industry, retailing or elsewhere.

As well as workshops to improve their soft skills, participants learned about a typical day in the life of a Maxol Service Station, how the business is run and the wide range of careers available in the forecourt retailing sector. This was presented by Paul Sweeney, Independent Maxol Licensee of Riverside Service Station, Navan.

Catherine Noctor, Group HR Manager, The Maxol Group said "As a family owned and run business, Maxol is delighted to be involved in this initiative which allowed us the opportunity to show what the forecourt convenience industry has to offer its employees. The feedback on the day was excellent from all of our attendees and our own staff took great pride in helping those looking for work.
