McGonigle's Service Station Wins on the Double

MUFF SERVICE STATION WINS AWARDS ON THE DOUBLE

Joe and Marie McGonigle, owner operators of Maxol’s service station in Muff have been named the Maxol All Ireland Retailer of the Year for 2004/2005.  The award was presented on the site by Area Manager Ronnie Downey and Des Duffy, Retail Manager-Ireland, having been announced formally at the annual Maxol Retailer Conference.   The accolade forms part of Maxol’s Retail Business Awards scheme which promotes and recognises excellence in retail standards and customer care throughout its entire network of service stations.

Muff service station also won the All Ireland Staff Team of the Year, for the third consecutive year.  The team won the award against stiff competition from over 250 Maxol service stations across Ireland and received €1,000 and a special presentation plaque.

Judging for the Retail Awards is conducted via formal site inspections by Maxol senior management at participating Maxol stations throughout the year. In addition an independent agency conducts mystery motorist visits to observe and report on the quality of service offered to customers.

The management and staff at Muff are no strangers to these awards and have performed consistently well in previous years. Over the years the site has also picked up the award for top Maxol/Mace Retailer of the Year.

Commenting at the presentation of the award, Ronnie Downey, Maxol Area Manager, said:

“To win an all Ireland award once is a great achievement but Staff Team of the Year for three consecutive years shows that this staff team has a total commitment towards customer care. I would like to congratulate Joe, Marie and their team and commend them for their consistently high shop and forecourt standards.”

The Retail Business Awards scheme was developed in 1992 to ensure that the best levels of service and amenities were maintained on Maxol forecourts. The focus of the scheme is on quality retailing, operating procedures and premium customer care.
