Maxol's Health, Safety and Environmental Policy reflects its objective to operate in a way that is compatible with the health, safety and environmental needs of its employees, and the community.
The very nature of Maxol’s business means that many of the products it deals with are volatile, flammable, and potentially dangerous. Maxol’s policy in relation to health, safety and the environment requires it to identify and evaluate:
- The risks associated with its business
- The standards to be employed in conducting its business
- Its responsibilities in ensuring these standards are achieved and maintained
In conducting all aspects of its operations and services, Maxol recognises the risks associated with such products and addresses them by implementing stringent standards of operations and procedures, for the health and safety of employees, the general public, and the environment.
Legislation
It is Maxol's policy to comply with all applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental Legislation. In the absence of legislation, the company is committed to applying responsible standards, as applicable to its industry.
Maxol is committed to working with government and industry groups with a view to applying responsible standards throughout the entire oil industry in Ireland and the European Community, and to adapt to the changing demands of the global energy business.
Key Principles
It is the policy of Maxol to conduct its activities in such a manner as to:
PROVIDE A SAFE AND HEALTHY WORK ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL ITS EMPLOYEES IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS AND TO MEET ITS DUTIES TO CONTRACTORS AND OTHERS WHO MAY BE AFFECTED BY OUR ACTIVITIES AND CONSERVE THE ENVIRONMENT.
The Directors of the Company therefore endorse the following key principles:
- To identify potential hazards through internal and external audits, and to strive to eliminate them.
- To identify and emphasize the need for health and safety training, and to provide such training when required using qualified trainers.
- To ensure that all staff are competent and have the capacity to carry out their assigned tasks, and to also ensurethat adequate systems of work are in place to assist in these tasks.
- To consult with employees and safety representatives to promote co-operation in safety matters and to meet our obligations under current health and safety legislation.
- To ensure that all plants and equipment are subject to regular inspection and are kept in a safe condition, consistent with their normal working environment.
- To identify, monitor and eliminate potential health risks caused by hazardous substances.
- To ensure each employee is aware of their obligations regarding their personal safety, and the safety of others.
- The company will conduct its business in a way that ensures, so far as is reasonably practicable, a safe working environment for persons not directly employed by the company while working on its premises.
- The company actively encourages Retailer and Distributor customers to adopt a similar approach to health and safety.
- The company's safety objectives strive to eliminate all potential injuries and road accidents, and to sustain a health and safety culture of the highest standard throughout the company.
