Arlene Foster, Minister for Enterprise Trade and Investment, has officially opened Maxol’s latest forecourt to have been developed under its striking and colourful new brand livery.

To date Maxol has introduced its new brand identity, which was officially launched just last month, to 50 sites across the island of Ireland. The developed Marino Service Station is a new addition to Maxol’s retail network and represents an investment of nearly £2m. The Maxol Group plans to invest a total of £28m expanding and re-imaging its retail network, providing direct and indirect employment for about 400 people in the services and construction industry over the next five years.

Located on Bangor Road in Holywood, the site boasts an extensive 200-square-metre SPAR store, a hot food counter, Streat coffee and freshly baked pastries, Drive 365 Motor Maintenance section, Paypoint facilities and ATM, new pumps with 24/7 pay at pump technology, a lance wash facility, free Wi-Fi and national lottery. As part of Maxol’s on-going environmental strategy the company has invested heavily in the latest low energy technology enabling it to significantly reduce its energy usage and carbon foot print.

Arlene Foster, MLA, Minister of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, said: “Maxol are to be congratulated on their continued capital investment in Northern Ireland. It is very encouraging that the company have committed to a programme of expansion in what is an increasingly competitive marketplace. Central to this expansion is Maxol’s drive to embrace new and innovative methods of automated forecourt and retail service. Increasingly, consumers are looking for more than just fuel from service stations and the company has recognised the importance of enhancing the retail experience for customers.”

Commenting on the new service station, Brian Donaldson, Chief Operating Officer, Maxol, said: “The opening of Marino service station under our new livery marks an important milestone for Maxol, reinforcing our commitment to our customers and our aspiration to be the leader in forecourt and convenience retailing across the island of Ireland.

“Maxol’s new vibrant image resonates with all our customers, both young and old. Our new positioning line ‘At the Heart of It’ reflects Maxol’s role in providing services to local communities, as well as supporting them in a variety of ways.

“Acquired in 2012 Marino Service Station is a great addition to our retail network and we wish licensees Richard and Belinda Law continued success in their venture.  Maxol is keen to purchase other sites like Marino and we would welcome enquiries from other forecourt and property owners if they ‘re interested in selling.”

Maxol plans to introduce the new brand image to a further 14 stations in Northern Ireland by June 2013, with a total of 175 outlets across the island of Ireland set to receive the new treatment in the coming year.
