FREEZE ON FUEL DUTY RISE WELCOMED BY MAXOL

Brian Donaldson, Group General Manager of the Maxol Group, said the Chancellor's decision to cancel the planned fuel duty rise in September was good news for stretched households in Northern Ireland.

"We are delighted with today's outcome and believe that the Chancellor has made the right decision for Northern Ireland's motorists. For most people in Northern Ireland a car is essential for daily life and for many years motorists have been an easy target for the Treasury.

However, the fact that this government has frozen fuel duty on several occasions highlights that they have heard the voice of concerned consumers for whom fuel costs are a significant component of their weekly spending.

"As a leading fuel retailer across the island of Ireland we have been at the forefront of providing our customers with quality fuel at competitive prices and are pleased today's decision supports this."
