As part of new charity partnership with Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK

Pictured above are wish children 'Princess' Ellie O'Neill, aged 6 from Craigavon, County Armagh, who lives with complex congenital heart disease and 'Pirate' Todd Vance, aged 11 from Dundonald, Belfast, who's fighting Pilocytic Astrocytoma. Both children wish to visit the magical world of Disney to meet the Pirates and Princesses.

Monday 8th April 2013: The Maxol Group announced that they will partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK as their new charity of the year. The aim of the partnership is to support the charitable work of Make-A-Wish in granting magical wishes to children between the ages of 3 and 17 years who are living with life-threatening conditions.

The Maxol and Make-A -Wish partnership will see Make-A-Wish wristbands being on sale in all participating Maxol service stations, as well as their collection boxes in over 200 Maxol service stations. Individual Maxol forecourts will host community fundraising events throughout the year including Wash for Wishes and Attended Service Days. Details of these activities will be announced as the partnership evolves.

Commenting at the launch, Brian Donaldson, Chief Operating Officer of The Maxol Group, said, "Maxol is very proud to be associated with Make A Wish, a charity that genuinely adds magic to the lives of children suffering from life threatening illnesses. You can't fail to be touched by the extremely challenging illnesses that so many children face with great bravery and without complaint. Recognising this, Maxol retailers throughout the country have committed their full support to raising much needed funds for the charity at a local level. This compliments our objective of being 'at the heart of it' in each of the communities in which we are represented.

We believe our customers will respond generously to the range of fundraising activities we plan to coordinate during the year, as these events will be collecting funds for local families with children who are unwell. We have been working closely with the team at Make-A-Wish to design dual branded marketing materials to raise awareness of the partnership and we look forward to the success of this new and worthwhile affiliation".

Commenting on Maxol's support, Neil Jones, CEO, Make-A-Wish UK, added "We are delighted to be working with Maxol, and we can't wait to support their teams in raising funds to help grant magical wishes. Last year we granted 68 wishes for children in Northern Ireland fighting life-threatening conditions, and this simply would not be possible without the support of companies such as Maxol. We are really excited about the impact that we know our partnership will make."

There are currently 20,000 children and young people in the UK fighting a life-threatening condition and this year Make-A-Wish will grant over 1,100 wishes. The charity needs to raise £7 million in 2013 to achieve this and receives no government funding or lottery grants – so every donation really does count.
